Classification and Compensation
The Classification and Compensation Division is responsible for planning, establishing, monitoring, maintaining and revising the state's classification and compensation programs. These programs primarily include the salary grade and career-banding systems but also include other specialized and pilot pay systems. Classification and compensation are cornerstones for other personnel functions such as recruitment and salary administration. Division staff performs significant analysis of workforce changes and labor market trends; researches, analyzes, and provides information on state employee compensation and benefits trends to the General Assembly; and promotes the total rewards concept for N.C. state government.
